Agricultural Expo and UPM 38th Convocation Festival - Environmental Forensic Booth

This was the first time I went to the Agricultural Expo and UPM 38th Convocation Festival held at Bukit Ekspo with the theme 'Agricultural Innovation Centre of Living'. It is an annual event which will be held during the convocation period with exhibitions by various faculties and departments of UPM. Me and Erika spent around two hours there to explore the contribution of UPM mainly in the agricultural sectors. Here's the photo blog of some of my findings there.

The exhibition bus by UPM Research Centre about city agriculture.
The inside of the exhibition bus. Products made of extract of plants are exhibited (these products are not commercialised yet). Information regarding the medical usage of traditional plants are being shown as well. The person in-charged there was very helpful in giving explanation about those plants. It's really eye-opening that actually plants that we might easily oversee bring health benefits.
Orchids everywhere!

The entrance of the exhibition. I didn't expect it to be air-conditioned actually!
The model of city agriculture. Many herbs such as parsley, lavender, basil etc. wre planted with some fish that provided part of the nutrients for the plants. It shows that agriculture is work-able even in city!
The Edu-Park of UPM. I have been wanting to go since long time ago. There are many farms and museums that provide educational trips for the public. Pre-booking is required three days before the trip. It is not very popular because of low publicity.
One of the attractions in the exhibition - the rainbow chicks! Actually they were just ordinary chicks (which might be eaten when they are grown up) being coloured by food colouring. They were cute indeed, just that I am afraid one day when they grow up and shed the coloured feather, will they still be loved?
Orchestra performance of Joe Hisaishi tracks by musical students. It's very soothing! (If they place a hat or something on the ground I will surely tip them, wonder atmosphere that they had created!)
Annnd...... TADAA~ My faculty's booth!

Faculty of Environmental Studies! It's small, but it's presence there was simply awesome!
Various instruments for soil and water testing. Please refer to this link for further detailed explanation.
Portable water quality analysis equipment! My coursemates had demonstrated the usage of these instrument here last weekends.
The jumpsuit which will be wear by environmental scientists when working in polluted areas. (I hope that it is not orange in colour by the time I need to wear it)
The International Conference on Environmental Forensics which will be held next year! Environmental Forensics is something new that was initiated in our faculty. Just like the Forensic Science that we know, we deal with evidence, evidence of certain parties polluting the environment! Malaysia truly need to establish a field like this.
A journal written by my lecturers regarding Environmental Forensics (that I could not afford to buy one boo hoo). I wonder whether one day my name will appear on journals too. *wink*
Environmental Forensics deal with Emerging Contaminants (ECs) as well!

P/S: This is a super short and quick photo blog due to time and energy and wifi constraints. More could have been done. *sorry*
